Do
- ✓Confirm appliance specs (especially fridge and range) before drawing cabinets — appliance change after layout sign-off is the #1 remodel reset.
- ✓Run uppers to the ceiling (or to a soffit). Open dust shelves are a 1995 cue.
- ✓Spec a real lighting plan: recessed task over counters + pendants over island + under-cabinet LED + dimmer per zone.
- ✓Commit to one hardware finish family for cabinets, faucet, and pendant metal.
- ✓Order one extra door and one quart of touch-up paint at install for ten years of repairs.
Avoid
- ✗Picking countertops before cabinets — counters react to cabinet color, not the other way.
- ✗Stark cool whites with warm wood floors — they fight under Utah light.
